About Ehtebar

Ehtebar is an automated news aggregator focused on Afghanistan. We collect reporting from 14 Afghan and international outlets in English, Dari, and Pashto, group stories covered by multiple sources, compare what they agree and disagree on, and present them with reliability labels, editorial tone assessments, and direct links to the originals.

Each cycle scrapes new articles, identifies stories covered by more than one outlet, and uses AI to translate, cross-reference, and summarize them into a single bilingual article in English and Dari. The result is a continuously updated feed that lets you follow Afghan news without checking a dozen outlets yourself.

We don't produce original reporting. Every article on this site points back to the journalists who did the work, and every claim is traceable to the outlets that reported it.

Who runs this

Ehtebar is independently built and maintained from the Netherlands. We have no affiliation with any government, political party, or media outlet.

What this is — and isn't

This is an aggregation and analysis tool. We surface what's being reported, by whom, and where sources agree or contradict each other. We don't verify facts on the ground, and our reliability labels reflect source-level patterns — not a verdict on any individual claim. For more on how labels work, see our methodology.
